Interesting Fact
He began as a VJ on MNet back in 2001. He was still with his real name then. At this time, someone suggested that he drop Gong from his screen name, which he rejected because he wants his family to keep. Gong Yoo, his current screen name, and he is a merger of his parents' last name (Gong is his dad's last name. Yoo While his mother is the last name).
He was the nickname Kkong, which literally means small head, because as a child he had a relatively small head compared to his body.
